When do you need a new boiler…
There are two main ways to know when it's time to get a new boiler: age and performance issues.

Performance Issues:
If you're experiencing any of these issues and live in the Swindon area, please feel free contact us and we can assess your boiler and advise you on the best course of action.
If you do however need a new boiler installed, then you do have the option of selecting one of the many different brands that are on the market – Each with their own pros and cons..
Worcester Bosch: Probably one of the most well known brands. Known for their reliability and excellent customer service. They offer a wide range of boilers, including combi, although they are noted as being one of the more expensive brands.
Viessmann: A German brand known for their high-efficiency boilers. They offer a wide range of boilers, including combi, system, and regular boilers, as well as renewable heating options like air source heat pumps, again though, these are known to be quite expensive to purchase and install.
Vaillant: Known as being a reputable brand offering a good balance of quality and price. They offer combi, system, and regular boilers. They mostly come with a standard 7 year warranty, but do have a reputation as being noisier than other boilers when in operation.
Ideal: A British brand known for their affordable boilers. They offer combi, system, and regular boilers. Ideal boilers are often cheaper than other brands, being British they are more readily available, but are not seen as being reliable as some of the more expensive brands.
Baxi: Another well-established British brand offering a good range of boilers at competitive prices. They offer combi, system, and regular boiler at affordable prices and again are readily available in the UK.
The best boiler brand for you will depend on your individual needs and budget. Consider factors such as the size of your home, the type of boiler you need (combi, system, or regular), your budget, and the importance of efficiency and warranties. At MPS Heating we pride ourselves as being impartial as we are not exclusive to one brand of boiler. If you are looking at getting a new boiler, please feel free to get in touch and we will be more than happy to advise on the best one for your circumstances.
- Generally 10-15 years: A well-maintained and regularly serviced boiler can last between 10 and 15 years. If your boiler is older than this, it's nearing the end of its lifespan, and you should start considering a replacement. Even if it's still working, a newer boiler will be more energy efficient, saving you money on your bills.
Performance Issues:
- Frequent breakdowns: If your boiler is constantly needing repairs, it's a sign it's on its way out. Replacing it can actually be more cost-effective in the long run than repeated repairs.
- Higher energy bills: Older boilers are less efficient and may be wasting energy. If you've noticed a rise in your heating bills without any significant changes in usage, or sudden energy price increases it could be time for a new boiler.
- Unusual noises: Clanking, banging, or other strange noises coming from your boiler can indicate internal problems. A qualified heating engineer such as ourselves can diagnose the issue and advise you on repair or replacement – If you are experiencing this, please feel free to get in touch and we can let you know what the problem is..
- Yellow flame: The flame in your boiler should be bright blue. If it's burning yellow or orange, it's a danger sign, should not be used and you should get a Gas Safe registered heating engineer to check it immediately. We can advise you on whether a service or replacement is needed.
- Leaks: Any leaks from your boiler should be investigated promptly by a professional. Not only can they damage your property, but a leak could also be a sign of a carbon monoxide risk, which can be deadly.
