If you are planning on having a new boiler installed you need to know which type you are need. There are 3 main types of boilers: Combi, System and conventional. Combi - A combi boiler or combination boiler as it otherwise known, is a type of condensing boiler. Combi boilers are highly efficient and compact, making them ideal for smaller homes. System - A system boiler directly heats your central heating and also produces hot water for your storage cylinder. It is a heat only boiler and works in a similar way to a conventional boiler only it does not require a cold water storage tank Conventional - Also known as a regular boiler, a conventional boiler system is made up of a number of parts and also requires a hot water cylinder, a cold-water storage cistern plus a feed and expansion cistern. the conventional boilers are normally found in older, larger homes.
